The purpose of this study was to undertake a city-wide assessment of the role of self-help housing in providing shelter for the poor, and of the role of intra-city mobility in the creation of different sections of low-income housing in an African context. Implicitly the study tests the links between self-help-housing, intra-urban mobility and the formation of low-income settlements. - (AGD)
