Description :
The geomorphological and sedimentological field studies as well as the mineralogical investigation of 80 silty-clayish samples from the terraces of the Wadis Firan and Esh Sheikh (southern central Sinai) lead to new conceptions about the petrogenesis of these sediments. The altimetric measurements, the geomorphological and sedimentological observations allow the reconstruction of (at least) eleven successively occuring basins where the sedimentation took place in a lacustrine environment. The granulometric data as well as the mineralogical composition indicate that the eolian transport was an early important element.
