Description :
A sequential air photo analysis has been carried out of the Dunes de Slack on the french atlantic coast between Boulogne and Calais. Seven series of small-scale photographs taken between 1949 and 1989 were included in the survey. The data were transformed into digital form by scanning with a Leica Quantimet. Selected parameters are the total surface which was affected by wind, and size, number and orientation of each blowout. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the consequences of the differences in geomorphology and vegetation cover for the vulnerability of the dunes to deflation: 4 sections were recognized.
