The Hispano homeland

Auteur :
NOSTRAND, R.L.

Description :
Northern New Mexico was settled by Spaniards (not Mexicans) who created a distinctive culture which has long held on to a Spanish-American (now called Hispano) identity. This historical geography elaborates their colonization, relationship with Indians, and reaction to the Anglo intrusion and Mexican immigration. Many villages have lost population to the benefit of such cities as Pueblo, Colorado and Albuquerque, New Mexico. Careful interpretation of census materials has contributed to making this a first-class geographical study. - (DWG)
