Despite their arrival since only the 1960s, Cubans now number more than 500 000 in Dade County (Miami), Florida. Many of the one million Cubans elsewhere in the USA often move or wish to move eventually to Miami. Blocked from returning to Cuba, Miami has become a surrogate homeland for this group. - (DWG)
