In El Fayoum the increased water supply which was made possible after building the Aswan High Dam, and the intensified cultivation also led to a positive development in agriculture. On the other hand this turned out to be a serious interference into the ecosystem of El Fayoum because of its special geological, geomorphological, hydrological and pedological situation.―(l'A.).
