Description :
The most frequent forms on blown sand surfaces are the windrifts, oval shaped sand hummocks and residual ridges. Parabolic dunes can be found in the north-eastern part of the country, in the Nyírség. On the alluvial fans larger deflation flat areas developed at many places. The great majority of the blown sand on the surface evolved in the Upper Pleniglacial period. Besides this period, considerable amount of sand movement occurred at several places in the Older and Younger Dryas. During the Holocene blown sand could move, even in the more arid periods, only in smaller spots.
