Description :
Results show the significant difference in soil texture, pH-value and heavy minerals between the tectonically stable part of South America and the tectonically active part of Central America, which cannot merely the interpreted as the effect of source rock. The results relate to differences of weathering in tectonically active and stable parts of the tropics, particularly to certain aspects of the morphology of quartz grains.
