Description :
Following a detailed description of the main parameters (geological, lithological, geomorphological and anthropogenic) which influence or cause slope instability, the first results of researches on landslides, including an analysis of a wide representative area inside the Valdarno basin, are presented. In order to estimate the relationship between the distribution of mass movements and to model slopes affected by landslides, and the local lithological and morphological variations, a morphometric computer analysis was carried out. In particular, several slope profiles along the Arno river valley floor, where steep surfaces occur, were analysed.
