Description :
This paper offers a broad-based view of recent work, and shows how geomorphological survey and analysis have contributed significantly to land use planning in a number of areas, but particularly in the fields of coastal zone management, urban development, water resource exploitation and environmental conservation. Selected examples are used to illustrate specific approaches, techniques and results. The study concludes that demand for geomorphological expertise in land use planning is likely to increase, but questions the type of training currently available.
