This study contributes to the discussion, whether or not a stratigraphic relation of distinct soil exists, i.e. whether they are bound to distinct periods of time, or occur randomly dispersed in time. It reports some sites from the Great Basin and the Rocky Mountains to reveal indications of the existence of a pedostratigraphic framework.
