Local knowledge and conventional soil science approaches to erosional processes in the Shivalik Himalaya

Auteurs :
SCOTT, C. A.
WALTER, M. F.

Description :
Local knowledge is specific and approaches erosion hazard from a land-use perspective, whereas conventional science is general and prioritizes structural and vegetative techniques that may be rapidly implemented in the agricultural timeframe to reduce erosion and sedimentation. The case study of the Shivalik Hills demonstrates the complementarity of both approaches to erosion in Dhamala village.―(DWG)
