Changing resource management strategies and their environmental impacts in the Middle Atlas mountains of Morocco

Auteurs :

Description :
Mobile animal husbandry long defined land use in the Middle Atlas. Focusing on one tribe, the Ait Arfa of the Guigou basin, the AA. found that technological innovation, investment in water development, spread of irrigated agriculture and increased use of veterinary medicine changed that nomadic pattern. But intensification led by those with capital and entrepreneurial skills also led to societal conflicts that did not exist before. - (DWG)
