In Ecuador soil erosion is especially common in the Andean highlands. To better evaluate this problem, the AA. analyzed biophysical data on rainfall amounts, distribution, variability and intensity as well as vegetation, soil water budget and the slope factor. Farmer practices and economic and social factors are also outlined. - (DWG)
