Changes since the nineteenth century to the estuary-barrier complexes of North County Dublin
Auteur :MULRENNAN, M.E.
Description :
This paper attempts to establish the response of two coastal barriers on the north County Dublin coastline to continued modification of the adjacent estuarine environments, over the last two centuries, by urbanisation, reclamation, land drainage and changed run-off characteristics. The relationship between the estuaries and the estuary mouth forms the basis of the interpretation presented. Disruption of the tidal regime has led to substantial hydrodynamic and morphological changes, triggering complex autogenic changes between the various components of the coastal system.
