In this paper author investigates the most important characteristics of suburbanisation and suburban development around Pécs (Southern Hungary). In Hungary suburbanisation has started first around Budapest but more and more big cities and even middle towns have been impacted by population deconcentration in recent years. The first part of the paper gives a statistical data analysis on population movements around Pécs, in which the motivation of migration, the satisfaction with past and present dwellings etc. are investigated. - (ZK)
