Description :
The name is of French origin grèze litées mean sandy-gravelly deposits covering chalk scarps. Their detailed analysis was carried out, genesis established and classification accomplished by Guillen, Y. (1964). In Hungary, they are typical for dolomite and rhyolite tuff surfaces, but their detailed investigations have not yet been completed. The AA. studied these sediments occuring on the rhyolite tuff surfaces of the Bükk foreland (Bükkalja) and Tokaj Mountains. Distribution, genesis and age of such deposits are outlined, and grèzes litées are typified on the basis of granulometry. The layered character of slope deposits testifies on a subsequent redeposition of the material by gelisolifluction and sheet-wash. - (ZK)
