The first study presents the survival strategies of farmers working in diesadvantegous agricultural conditions, emphasising the difficulties (e.g. lack of capital, insufficient skilss, lack of co-operation between the farmers), posing hindrance for their wayout from the deadlock. The second study introduces industrial and tertiary small entrepreneurship of the microregion with problems similar to those in farming. A special analysis deal with the unemployment situation, which is an additional burden on the people living there. The last chapter of the article outlines possible development schemes, overviewing the endowments and methods that might create favourable conditions for a future economic take-off of the villages in the microregion. - (ZK)
