Beginning with a status-quo representation of landscape areas in Germany, trends in land use are considered in the contribution : changes in agricultural structure, particularly segregation tendencies in agriculture, landscape consumption as well as the segmentation of landscapes. Future land use well as the segmentation of landscapes. Future land use will be determined decisively by the (social and economic) rating and acceptance of landscape protection and lanscape aesthetics. A considerable influence on landscape design can be attributed to future agricultural policy and the realisation of the Agenda 2000. - (MT)
