Hydrologic inferences from tree-ring studies on the Hawkesbury River, Sydney, Australia

Auteur :
MARTENS, D.

Description :
This paper describes the relations among tree growth, flooding, and alluvial morphology on the Hawkesbury River. Specifically, the study aimed at defining changes in tree growth with increasing elevation above mean low water level and to determine whether introduced trees could be used to make inferences about channel changes in southeastern Australia. The correlation between flood-induced tree damage and reduced growth described by Martens (1992) is assumed valid and is discussed . Investigations focus on Salix species because of their wide distribution in southeastern Australia.
