Description :
This paper describes the styles and intensities of hurricane damage and provides information on the factors that increase damage from wind, storm surge and inland flooding. It is based on both published studies of Hurricane Andrew (1992), Iniki (1992), Bob (1991) and Hugo (1989) plus ground and aerial studies of the damage effects of those storms by the A. Information is synthesized from a number of different cognate fields because a holistic view of hurricane damage is essential if we are to minimize loss of life and structural damage in future hurricanes.
