Aeolian sediment flux decay: non-linear behaviour on developing deflation lag surfaces

Auteurs :
MCKENNA NEUMAN, C.
NICKLING, W.G.

Description :
This study reports on a series of wind tunnel experiments in which rapid, detailed measurements of the sediment flux, wind profile and surface geometry were made, as the number and exposure of non-erodible roughness elements increased on test surfaces undergoing deflation. It is shown that the velocity profile data are essential to understanding the physical processes driving the flux decay. The co-dependence of the sediment flux, shear velocity and surface geometric roughness is emphasized.
