Erosion of a cyclic saltmarsh in Morecambe Bay, North-West England

Description :
This paper reports on investigations spanning 9 years (1983-1992) of an erosional phase currently affecting thhe Silverdale saltmarsh on the north-east shore of the River Kent Estuary. Erosion along the marsh was monitored monthly, and temporal and spatial variations in the erosion rate have been recorded. These are examined in relation to processes controlled by varying wind and tidal conditions, as well as channel movements seaward of the saltmarsh.
