Description :
An experiment is presented here, aiming at a subdivision of loess profiles by a combined use of sedimentological, palaeontological and mathematical methods. The loess samples, beside Katymár, near the Hungarian-Yugoslavian border, are characterised by their grain size parameters and their carbonate content. Parallel to these genetic units the sequence was subdivided from a faunistic point of view, too. The results correlate well with those of the numeric approach.
