Description :
Normal fault-generated mountain fronts are a characteristic element of the landscape in the Central Apennines. The purpose of this work is: 1) to recognize the recent activity of the tectonic structures responsible for their formation; 2) to investigate the influence of this activity on their geomorphological features. In order to reach this goal, three examples of normal fault mountain fronts, carved in different lithological conditions, are described and compared, also analysing the Quaternary sediments filling the basins that they border (Norcia, Amatrice-Campotosto and Fucino basin).
