Heritage, urban planning, and the postmodern city

Auteur :
FREESTONE, R.

Description :
This paper is a preliminary investigation of links between aspects of everyday heritage conservation work and broader historical, cultural and economic imperatives. An overview of the rise of heritage consciousness sets the scene for consideration of the distinctive and determining elements of the postmodern city, the way in which planning is adjusting to these new realities. The Sydney experience is illustrated.
