The northwest region of Bangladesh is divided into 4 geomorphological units which show different flood features. The region has suffered severe flood damage both in 1987 and in 1988. After these floods Bangladesh Action Plan for Flood Control was established by the World Bank. The A. suggests smaller but reasonable projects combining structural and non-structural methods in the region.
