If predicted global climatic changes occur, New Zealand is likely to experience changes in temperature along the north-south axis, but changes in rainfall across this axis, with more rain in the west and less in the east. Such climate changes will have on human and other biological communities, including fish and fisheries, is even more a matter for speculation.
