Household vulnerability of famine : survival and recovery strategies among Berti and Zaghawa migrants in Northern Darfur, Sudan, 1982-1989
Vulnerability, hunger and famine

Description :
Households are vulnerable not only because their crops fail, livestock die or are sold to meet the rising cost of grain, but also because community cohesion and the resources upon which the cohesive mechanisms depend diminish. The notion of failure to support, at both the community and national levels, is a dimension of famine vulnerability which complements more familiar approaches.
