Geographical location and diffusion of basic innovations. The case of the European USSR

Description :
The quality of location has its morphological or functional as well as statical or dynamical aspects. Three major constituents are mentioned here : the connectivity (contact position and cohesion), the quality of functional position, and the dynamic position in process. The first reflects the degree of mutual proximity and spatial consolidation of neighbouring places. The second inserts the places within a system of functionally active spaces. The last shows a place in its relation to the global and national development as processes of propagation of basic innovations.
