Description :
This paper describes a series of experiments that focus on the erosional role of a single organism, the common limpet (Patella vulgata), on soft, fine-grained chalk on the coast of Sussex (southeast England). A preliminary calculation has been made of the extent to which limpets contribute directly to the erosion of the Sussex chalk platforms.
