A method for dendrochronological assessment of medium-term gully erosion rates

Description :
The aims of this paper are : 1) to develop a methodology based on dendrochronology to estimate gully erosion rates; 2) to apply this method to gully sites selected in the Guadalentin basin in southeast Spain. The method is developed for Pinus halepensis (Allepo pine), which is, from a dendrochronological point of view, the most thoroughly studied species in the Mediterranean region, and for 3 species with a regenerative capacity of their roots, such as Prunus dulcis (Almond tree) and Salix alba L. (White willow).
