Matrix granulometry of catastrophic debris flows (December 1999) in central coastal Venezuela

Description :
The purposes of this note are to : briefly describe and illustrate some relevant geomorphic effects of the 1999 debris flows, determine the particle-size distribution of the interstitial matrix from one of the larger valleys (Naiguatá river) affected by debris flows, and discuss the grain-size distribution with regard to the buoyancy and competence of the debris flows for boulder transport.
