Description :
Three important lineament trends have been identified in the Guadix-Baza basin from a Landsat TM image. These three trends are correlated to the major faults. The study of linear features by the analysis of satellite data has revealed a strong link between the buried tectonic structures and the morphological features appearing at the surface. It is possible to reconstruct elements of the tectonic and denudational history of the region and show that during Quaternary times lineaments controlled the sedimentation of the basin and the drainage pattern.
