Trampling of microphytic crusts on calcareous soils, and its impact on erosion under rain-impacted flow

Auteur :
ELDRIDGE, D.J.

Description :
This paper examines the effect of simulated trampling on erosion from intact microphytic crust-dominated monoliths subjected to rain-impacted water flow. Using an artificial sheep hoof, 5 intensities of trampling were imposed on the soil surface in order to examine : 1) the relationship between trampling disturbance and erosion from intact microphytic crusted soil; 2) the influence of trampling on the size distribution of eroded particles, and 3) the influence of trampling on soil micromorphology and surface morphology.
