Description :
This study deals with the genesis of Terrae rossae in NW Morocco and focuses on the problem of whether these soils are modern or relict. The approach to this problem presented here is baised mainly on mineral, especially clay mineralogical investigations of 5 selected rhodoxeralfs, one of them in a karst pocket. The results together with a discussion of the Quaternary climatic history of this region allow some conclusions regarding landscape genesis connected with ecological problems.
