Description :
The paper investigates the nature and pattern of a new type of urbanisation, which is labelled as exo(genous)-urbanisation. Foreign direct investment shows a spatial tendency within the host region's urban hierarchy in favour of small cities and counties. This contrasts with the concentration in large metropolises in most less developed countries. There were significant economic changes during 1978-93 which generated massive population in-migration. Exo-urbanisation raises doubts on social and environmental fronts.
