British land-use planning : a failure to cope with change ?

Auteur(s) et Affiliation(s)

CULLINGWORTH, J.B.
Dep. of Land Economy, Univ., Cambridge, Royaume-Uni

Description :
The paper opens with a summary of the background to and the ambitions of the post-war planning system. The issues are illustrated by a brief look at three policy areas (new settlements, retailing and transport). Government has acted as a mediator between conflicting interests rather than as a leader in policy-making.
