The A. proposes a conceptual and methodological focus for international comparative analysis which addresses the dialectical tension between the local and global. He offers an overview of the relevant work concerning global/local linkages in the literature on the political economy of agroindustrial development. This interdisciplinary literature is related to work on the agroindustrial labour processes.
