The primary objective of this progress report is to provide urban geographers with an up-to-date review of the innovative applications of GIS in urban studies and to summarize the majors schools of thought concerning the impact of GIS on geographic practice. A secondary aim is to provoke further discussion on the various methodological issues related to GIS in urban studies.
