The A. outlines the different models and traditions of citizenship and their re-evaluations in Europe. Critiques directed towards the capacity of formal models of citizenship are examined, to respond first to the growing rejection of immigrants and to the the partial incorporation of women which has resulted from the complex interrelation of between rights, obligations and resources. The potential of diversifying these spaces of governance is examined briefly.
