This paper deals with an analysis of the Plio-Quaternary evolution of a cross-section perpendicular to the Henares river valley (central region of the Iberian Peninsula). It deals with explaining what the Quaternary basin's evolution was and what repercussions the phases of rhexistasy (a rapid, drastic reduction of plant cover induced by natural or man-made causes) can have on this prior infrastructure.
