Description :
The papers are concerned with scale in two ways: first, as the processes operating at various scales in the world system set the structural context of action and, second, in terms of the opportunity structure available to political agents and social groups. The papers take a social constructionist perspective on space and thus scale becomes implicated in the production of spaces of reistance. Attention is directed to the spaces between the state and community and between the public and private spheres.
