Pleistocene and Holocene soil carbonates from Lanzarote, Canary Islands, Spain : paleoclimatic implications

Auteurs :
MAGARITZ, M.

Description :
Evidence for climatically-controlled carbonatization of soils from Holocene and Pleistocene parent materials have been found by dating soil carbonates. Two phases of soil carbonate formation were recognized; one before peak glaciation (18. 000 years B.P.) and a second at late Pleistocene-early Holocene time. These two periods reflect rather a humid phase, separated by an arid phase during peak glaciation.
