Received concepts and theories in African urbanisation and management strategies : the struggle continues

Over the past two decades, commentators and policy-makers have been enjoined to change their approach, but there are still many who have yet to adopt new attitudes. It is argued that concepts related to urban sanitation, water supply, urban agriculture, urban transport and aspects of housing supply need to be redefined to reflect local circumstances.
