Spatial and temporal variability in the geography of American defense outlays

Auteurs :
CRUMP, J. R.
ARCHER, J. C.

Description :
As a consequence of the Cold War, certain regions and sectors of the US economy are now dependent on military spending. At the state level, there is a large degree of locational persistence. At the county scale, there is little correspondence between the spatial distribution of federal defense of non-defense spending. The « Gunbelt » has higher amounts of federal military allocations.
