Living on the edge: children as outsiders

Auteur :
MATTHEWS, H.

Description :
The paper focuses on the significant outsider group of older children. Their environmental needs are rarely taken into account. The outcomes of conventional environment planning are evaluated. Reports on a survey of 9-11 year old children's ways of seeing familiar outdoor places in a suburban school (Midland England) show that an action plan which recognises children as full and active members of society is necessary.
