Description :
The hierarchy of Spanish ports is very heterogeneous and the traffic generated is very low compared with other European countries. The main reasons are Spain's lower rate of economic development, the lower population density and the absence of an international hinterland. The most competitive ports are those specialized in general containerized cargo: Barcelona, Valencia, Algeciras and Bilbao.
