Spatial implications of structural adjustment programmes in Ghana

The primary objectives of the paper is to assess the spatial implications of Ghana's economic recovery programmes that have been pursued since 1983 under the directions and dictates of the IMF and the World Bank. It argues that, in spite of the moderate successes recorded at the macro-economic level, a significant flaw of structural adjustment programmes is the neglect of the spatial dimensions of economic development.
