The only major dam inside a U.S. national park was built in Yosemite National Park in 1913 to provide water for the city of San Francisco. it has since become a symbol of environmental outrage, yet when a high government official proposed in 1987 a study to remove the dam and restore the valley as it once was, even many environmentalists have hesitated. - (DWG)
